A Bokken (Japanese: 木剣, "wooden sword") is a wooden training sword modeled after the Japanese single-edged, curved sword, the katana. It is used in Japanese martial arts such as aikido, kendo and kenjutsu as a training tool.

The main purpose of a Bokken is to provide a safe way to practice sword techniques without the risk of injury that would be associated with using real swords. It helps develop skills such as distance, timing and balance.

Although traditionally Bokken are made of wood, such as oak, today they can also be found in other materials, such as PP plastic (polypropylene), which offers durability and lightness.
