In 1851, in Rhode Island, America, two brothers opened a spinning mill and began producing quality cotton as well as textiles. The name of this company was B.B and R. Knight Corporation, but five years later the brothers invented a brand called Fruit of the Loom. The company name was inspired by a painting of one customer’s daughter with fruit. In 1871, Fruit of the Loom became registered as a trademark under number 418. The brand is one of the oldest in the world - even older than Coca-Cola.
Fruit of the Loom has nearly 170 years of experience in textile manufacturing and is today one of the world’s leading textile brands. In 2002, Fruit of the Loom was acquired by the Berkshire Hathaway Group, chaired by one of the world’s best-known businessmen, Warren Buffett. Belonging to a large organisation provides financial security and a strong foundation on which to build the future.
Although the company has its roots in America, Fruit of the Loom has established itself in Europe for over 30 years. Fruit of the Loom has its European headquarters in England and a large distribution center in Germany. Fruit of the Loom is known everywhere and is one of Europe’s best-selling promotional shirt brands.
